How it works
In short: on Partants, an outing only goes ahead if enough people sign up before the deadline. You join for free, you pay for your place within 48 h once the threshold is reached, and the organiser is only paid after the outing, if everything went well.
What happens when I join an outing?
You're signed up, nothing is charged. The progress bar shows how many more people are needed. Share the link: the sooner the threshold is reached, the sooner it's certain.
What happens when the threshold is reached?
The outing is confirmed. Everyone signed up receives an email with a payment link valid for 48 hours (and at the latest 2 hours before the start). Payment goes through Stripe, in Partants' name: card, TWINT, Apple Pay or Google Pay depending on your device. A place not paid in time is released and offered to the waiting list.
Where is the money between payment and the outing?
In Partants' account with Stripe, not with the organiser. It stays there until the payout, after the outing.
When is the organiser paid?
The day after the outing, each participant receives “Did it go well?”. 48 hours later (7 days for an organiser's first three outings), their share is paid out if fewer than 20% of paying participants reported a problem. Otherwise, the payout is frozen and we review the situation: attendance list, discussions with everyone. If the outing didn't take place as advertised, participants are refunded.
| Situation | What you pay |
|---|---|
| Threshold not reached by the deadline | Nothing, the outing is cancelled |
| You leave before the threshold | Nothing |
| You can no longer come after paying | Nothing if your place is taken: automatic refund |
| The organiser cancels | Nothing: full refund |
| Problem reported by 20% of participants or more | Payout frozen, review, refund if justified |
How do I know if an organiser is reliable?
The Verified badge means the organiser has linked a bank account via Stripe, with an identity check. New organisers are limited to CHF 1'000.– worth of places per outing and are paid after 7 days for their first three outings.
What about my safety on site?
Meet in a public place for a first outing with strangers, let someone close to you know, and report any inappropriate behaviour to contact@partants.ch: the account concerned can be suspended.
Frequently asked questions
What happens if the threshold isn't reached?
The outing is cancelled automatically on the deadline and nobody pays anything. You receive an email and can join another outing.
Where does my money go when I pay?
It is collected by Partants via Stripe and held until the outing. The organiser only receives their share after the outing, and only if fewer than 20% of participants report a problem. If the outing is cancelled, you get a full refund.
What if I can no longer come?
Before the threshold is reached, you can leave in one click, free of charge. Once paid, your place is put back on sale: as soon as another participant takes it and pays, you are refunded automatically.
How is the organiser paid?
They link their bank account via Stripe (identity check included). Their share, the price of the places minus the Partants commission of 10%, is paid out 48 hours after the outing (7 days for their first three outings).
